On a typical afternoon in St. Petersburg. Augustine, Florida, A group of unique people gather at a local restaurant to celebrate their accomplishments, share inspiration, and encourage each other at dinner.
They came on Friday for their weekly lunch from all walks of life: parents and brokers, lenders and nurses, life coaches and florist staff. Many represent their own businesses such as jewelry making, business coaching, spas and health club. Wherever they come from, they are there for each other to spend an hour of support and cohesion. These weekly lunches were held in five other cities, organized by Women Celebrations, and attended by both men and women. Every lunch has a theme that, according to founder Sheryl Lynn, indicates the freedom and success that all people desire. Topics vary, such as "size", "trust" and "work". At the thematic meeting "applause", each participant explained to the group why they deserved applause.
Members talk about changes in status and careers, business success and personal happiness. Each speaker received a round of applause as they spent "standing for their power," Lynn's expression of people's ability to succeed and strengthen. The need to do everyday things inspired Lynn to create Women Celebrations. Despite her success as a mother of three and a businesswoman, she feels tired at the end of the day and lacks motivation.
"I didn't cry for those great things. And not at all," Lynn said.
In the beginning, Women Celebrations created an environment where support and encouragement played an important role. Today, Women Celebrations has a strong presence in North Florida, and many chapters, or "loops," can be found throughout the country. The organization is open to anyone who wants to live their lives, share their experiences with others through positive interaction and build a sense of community.
